Pious Porn

BigChurch.com is a social networking site aimed to lure in single Christian adults. Its claim to fame is to provide a place where like minded people can meet and form relationships. It claims a half a million members and joining is free.
“Meet people who share the same Spiritual Beliefs as You”, it proclaims on its homepage.
There is also the well known Biblical passage from Gen 2:24:
“A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh”
“A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh”
For the convenience of the user, there is a ‘Bible Search’ function where users can easily access a favorite Scripture passage from the online library. One testimonial proudly declares the sites results in her life,
“I feel like my prayers of finding a respectable man have been answered! Thanks BigChurch!
All of this may seem somewhat on the tactful fringe of what or how a good Christian should meet fellow believers of the opposite sex. But with technology being as it is and many solid Biblical friendships are in fact formed via the internet, I wouldn’t condemn the idea all together. I would have many reservations about suggesting a ‘single’ brother or sister to use such a site. Nevertheless, on the surface, it looks to be dedicated to its claims. As with all things, especially as pertained to the internet, things are not always as they seem. It all boils down to the bottom line, and that line in this particular instance belongs to a group that is opposite the worldview proclaimed by Bigchurch.com; Penthouse Media Group Inc. In 2004, PMG was facing bankruptcy with large amounts of dept. The loss of newsstand revenue too the ominous presence of internet porn, PMG was bought by a group of investors headed by a man named Marc Bell.[1] As PMG begins to reinvent itself, it has created or purchased many social networking sites including BigChurch. After years of producing faith and family destroying materials via the printing press and video, PMG seems to be advocating the slogan; If you cant beat em’ join em’! PMG seeks to rename itself as Friendfinder Networks Inc. later this year to tone down its past history among those who may seek to spend their money elsewhere, but don’t be deceived! Its intentions are the same. Exploitation and gross sin are its products. Among the other social sites it operates listed in Newsweek magazine are subjects that I will not mention. Disgusting and revolting to say the least. The world is knocking at our door Christians, and the complacent will be steam rolled into sin. The roots of sin begin small, and often its only a click away. You cant tell me the desire to lure those from BigChurch to another cross linked social site is not in the intentions of the PMG who actively seek to promote their sinful lusts. They will prey upon the ususpecting user and flame his curiosity. It is our duty to be aware and actively seek the wolves among us and expose them for what they are. The money generated from BigChurch goes directly into the development of things the Christian finds revolting to the Gospel.
BigChurch is a big lie.
